Thanksgiving

Today I began my Thanksgiving.

I’ve had a productive week, which hopefully will be reflected in my shop next week.  (Dropped Crystal on Etsy)  I’ve made beads and had some really neat results with a new colour combination.  Unfortunately, it cracked.  So, next week I’ll use the combination again and see what I end up with.  It’s annoying to work for a long period of torch time on a bead and have it crack while you are working on it, or have it crack in the kiln, or even after.  I have a vase full of cracked beads.  Why keep them?  Because the colour combinations need to be remembered and I need to remember that they don’t all work.  I also have a vase of fuglies.  I’ve also used that newly cleaned up space in my head to create some new jewellery, also to be up on the shop next week.  I didn’t get bogged down in the details this week and got a bunch of things accomplished.  Planning and list making helps me get things done and feel better about wandering through some guilt free artistry.

Yesterday I grocery shopped for the family Thanksgiving.  We’re a much smaller group than we once were.  Parts of the family have passed away, others have moved away.  Today, I prepped most of the dinner for tomorrow and the turkey will go into the oven tomorrow morning.  It seems kind of wrong to be making the dishes today, but the organization helps free the visiting and relaxing time tomorrow.  It also keeps the mess in my kitchen.

I should know by now to plan as much as I can, because something always goes off the rails.  I function better with a plan in place and with the parts of my mind that worry about clutter cleaned up.

That said, with my lists in place and some of the clutter gone, I’m thankful for family and friends.

I’ll send this out into the flame and see you soon.
